Student Life & Activities | La Vida y Las Actividades de los Estudiantes

At Annunciation, we believe that there is more to education than just classroom learning; we hope to form well-rounded young people with a zeal for learning and a love for others. Children need opportunities for profound experiences beyond the classroom that push them to their limits, uncover their passions, allow them to make a difference, and challenge their perspectives of our world. There are many clubs, sports, outdoor excursions, and volunteer opportunities in which students of all ages at Annunciation can participate to grow their brains and their hearts, and better their community. A few of the non-sport opportunities are described below:

Outdoor Excursions | Across the grades, we work in partnership with organization like CityWILD and GoCo  to offer opportunities for all students to challenge themselves, build community, and explore nature through adventures and excursions into the beautiful outdoors of Colorado. We believe that it is very important to students of all ages to have authentic opportunities to explore the great outdoors and fall in love with the beauty and splendor of God’s creation.

Riverwatch | Colorado Riverwatch is an organization of citizen-scientists committed to testing the quality of stream and river water around the state, and the Annunciation Middle School Riverwatch club is in charge of an official Riverwatch water-quality testing site on the S. Platte River at Globeville Landing Park. Each week, we head down to the S. Platte River to collect water samples, and then bring them back to the lab for testing. We can analyze our test results to determine the health of our river, and enter all of the data we gather into a state-wide database that is used by government legislators and regulators when they are making new laws regarding water quality. (Paused for COVID-19)

Choir | At Annunciation, students in grades 3rd through 8th can participate in the school choir. In choir, students learn to refine their voices, how to read music, and how to lead sacred music. Each week, the choir leads the community in music and song at mass, and they are sometimes asked to do special performances around the holidays for gala events.

Annunciation offers many more student activities not described here, including...
  • St. Francis Soup Kitchen Volunteering (not during COVID-19)
  • Community Gardening & Urban Farming
  • Altar Serving Club
  • Peace Day Festivities
  • Culture Celebrations like las Posadas & Dia de Los Muertos
  • And much more...
