University of Notre Dame | Graduate 2016 Daniel's Fund Scholarship Winner - Full-Ride Scholarship to Notre Dame Aluel arrived in the US with her mother and siblings in 2006 after fleeing the civil war in South Sudan and spending several years in one of the world's largest refugee camps. Having overcome so much adversity and survived such violence, she was compelled to get the education that so many in her family never had a chance to seek. She speaks 5 languages, but no English when she arrived here, and Aluel often says that the community and education she received at Annunciation "saved her life." After Annunciation, Aluel went on to graduate from Arrupe Jesuit High School in 2016 and the University of Notre Dame in 2020. Congratulations Alual! |
